Saturday / Balmaceda Airport - Coyhaique.
Today we’ll travel from the Balmaceda Airport to the city of Coyhaique. In our way we’ll be able to see the old town of El Blanco, the valleys of livestock production and the impressive leap of the river Pollux, witnessing a little sample of the amazing scenery that’s part of these latitudes, since we will be crossing the Andes Mountains through the Chilean Patagonia. Reception and lodging in “Hotel Raices” or “Hotel Diego de Almagro”.
Sunday / Coyhaique - La junta.
Breakfast. We will go out on a full day tour towards “La Junta” through the Southern Highway. Along the way, we’ll visit the Queulat National Park and we will see the famous Hanging Snowdrift. Around the middle of the afternoon, we’ll get to the Puyuhuapi Fjord, one of the branches of the Pacific Ocean that go into the Patagonic Andes. We will continue our journey towards the town of Puerto Puyuhuapi, a beautiful small port village, with picturesque wooden houses and colorful gardens, reminiscents of the german colonization. At sunset, we’ll get to the town of “La Junta”, whose name comes off the confluence of the rivers Palena and Rosselot. Lodging in “Espacio y Tiempo Hotel de Montaña” or “Hotel Terrazas de Palena”.
Monday / La junta - Chaitén.
Breakfast. This day we will continue our journey through the Southern Highway, passing through the imposing suspension bridges over the rivers Rosselot and Palena. Later, we’ll meet the Lake Yelcho, which is a beautiful glacial lake, with emerald green waters. Further, while we get closer to the Golfo Corcovado, we’ll get to the city of Chaiten and its destroyed streets, after the eruption of the volcano of the same name, which still has mild activity. Lodging at “Hotel Mi Casa” or “Hotel Schilling”.
Tuesday / Chaitén - Futaleufú.
Breakfast. We’ll start our way heading north, until we get to the Pumalín Park (289.562 hectares), declared a Nature Sanctuary. 66% of its surface corresponds to native forests, such as Alerce (the oldest living specimen is more than 3600 years old. Alerces are the second most long-lived species of the world). After this, we will go to the west, around the river Futaleufú, internationally famous for its very high level of difficulty in Kayak and Rafting competitions. Afternoon, we will be arriving at the town Futaleufú. Lodging in “Hostería Río Grande” or “Hostal La Gringa Carioca”.
Wednesday / Futaleufú - Puyuhuapi.
Breakfast. This day, we will have a free morning, with the option of participating in the following optional activity: RAFTING EXCURSION IN RIVER FUTALEUFU: (NOT INCLUDED- Subject to operative and climatic conditions): “Bridge to Bridge” section - Class III, IV & IV + (8km): This section is one of the most popular and enjoyable in the river Futaleufu, its great volume of water makes its rapids become an unforgettable experience. For this section is not necessary to have previous experience. This section is called “Bridge to Bridge” because its rapids are found between 2 bridges (Pasarela Zapata y Puente Futaleufu). Includes rapids class III, IV & IV+, such as “Puente Colgante”, “Alfombra Mágica”, of pillows, and “Mundaca”, and many others. It lasts for 4 hours approximately. During the evening, we’ll make our return to Puyuhuapi. Lodging in “Casa Ludwig”.
Thursday / Puyuhuapi - Coyhaique.
Breakfast. Today we will return to Coyhaique. On our way we will stop in the “Termas del Ventisquero de Puyuhuapi”, located on the banks of the fjord of that name, we will enjoy its spectacular thermal waters. Lodging in “Hotel Raices” or “Hotel Diego de Almagro”.
Friday / Coyhaique - General Carrera.
Breakfast. Today we will travel from Coyhaique to Murta.
During the journey we’ll appreciate a scenery full of forest of “lenga”, “coigüe” and “ñire”, this kind of vegetation surrounds the entry point to the Cerro Castillo National Reserve, composed by forests and mountains, and from where we highlight the Cerro Castillo itself (2675 meters high) and the valley of the Ibañez river. Further, ahead we will see “Laguna Verde” (Green Lagoon), surrounded by forests. We will cross the bridge “El Manso”, to later observe the flooded valley, covered with high grass and dead stems, resulting from the eruption of the Hudson Volcano in 1991. Following our road, we enter to the “Portezuelo del Río Cajón” (600 meters high). Here, the road starts to go down until arriving at Murta, a town located in a branch of the Lake General Carrera. Dinner. Lodging in the “Hotel El Puesto” or the “Complejo Turístico Valle Exploradores” (Turistic Compound Explorers Valley).
Saturday / Lake General Carrera - Puerto Guadal.
Breakfast. We start our journey through the Carretera Austral Sur, bordering the Lake General Carrera with its bluish waters until we get to the town of “Puerto Río Tranquilo”. Here we will start a navigating towards the wonderful “Santuario de la Naturaleza Capillas de Mármol” (Nature Sanctuary Marble Chapels), place of great scenic beauty, where the constant waves of the lake have eroded and polished the limestone, creating beautiful caverns of intricate shapes and wide appeal. Later, we will continue our journey towards Puerto Guadal, on the banks of the emerald green waters of the Lake General Carrera, the largest in Chile and the second in South America, with a surface area of 978,12 km^2.
Also, during the afternoon we will be able to participate in any of the following optional activities:
Guided visit to the confluence of the rivers Baker and Neff (Not Included - Subject to operative conditions).
Guided visit to the lookout of the “Glaciar Exploradores” in “Campo de Hielo Norte” (Explorers Glacier Lookout in Northern Ice Fields) (Not included subject to operative conditions).
Lodging in “Mirador de Guadal Lodge” or “Terra Luna Lodge”.
Sunday / Puerto Guadal - Chile Chico.
Breakfast. Early, we will come out heading towards Chile Chio, bordering during the whole way the south shores of the Lake General Carrera, where the impressive highness of the “Paso de las Llaves” highlights. We will get to the town of Chile Chico, a place where the war of the same name took place, during the period of colonization, at the beginning of the XX century. Also, during the afternoon we will be able to participate in the following optional activities:
Guided visit to “Los antiguos”, Argentina (Not included - subject to operative conditions).
Lodging in “Hotel Posada del Río”.
Monday / Chile Chico - Coyhaique.
Breakfast. Here, we will take the Ferry that will take us towards “Puerto Ingeniero Ibañez”, from where we will continue our way by land heading to Coyhaique. Lodging in “Hotel Raices” or “Hotel Diego de Almagro”.
Tuesday / Coyhaique - Balmaceda Airport.
Breakfast. Regular transfer to Balmaceda Airport.
